Al Maktoum airport up and running

Al Maktoum International Airport in Jebel Ali officially opened yesterday, clearing the runways for chartered flights, private jets and other general aviation.

Dubai Airports unveiled the emirate's newest airport and the future home of Emirates Airline after regulatory approval on Wednesday from the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority.

Although the opening of the airport's passenger terminal has been delayed until the end of the year there will still be plenty of activity there, said Lorne Riley, the head of corporate communications at Dubai Airports.

"You will see general aviation, which are private aircraft or companies that charter small jets and aircraft, flying passengers in and out," Mr Riley said.

"It's not for the general public per se. General aviation is typically related to people who operate their own aircraft, or companies that operate their own charters for corporate and private travel. Al Maktoum has a facility to process passengers and airline crew through the airport in the short-term before the passenger terminal opens," said Mr Riley.

The first company to sign on is Al Futtaim Services Company in a joint venture with a jet operator in Europe, said Dubai Airports.

Al Futtaim has a fleet of 12 aircraft of which four will initially be put into operation, starting with one daily flight and gradually increasing in frequency. A start date is yet to be finalised.

But Mr Riley is expecting the airport to handle between 25 and 40 landings or take-offs daily by the end of the year.

Al Maktoum International Airport began cargo flights last summer but pushed back the opening of passenger flights until the fourth quarter of this year. It will eventually become the base for Emirates Airline and serve more than 100 other airlines flying into Dubai.

The airport is slated to become one of the largest in the world when completed by about 2030, with five runways, four terminal buildings and the capacity to handle 160 million passengers a year, and 12 million tonnes of cargo.

Embraer Executive Jets to participate in Avalon 2011

Embraer Executive Jets will participate in Avalon 2011, the Australian International Airshow and Aerospace & Defence Exposition, March 1-6, in Geelong, Victoria (www.airshow.net.au). The event will celebrate the centenary of Australia’s first passenger flight, and the tenth event staged at Avalon Airport, since 1992.

During Avalon 2011, Embraer, located at booth EN-D1, will showcase the award-winning Phenom 100 entry level, Phenom 300 light, and Legacy 600 super midsize executive jets in the Company’s largest static display in Australia, to date.

Embraer has been present in Australia since the EMB-110 Bandeirante went into service there, in 1978. Today, the Company is extensively represented by a fleet of regional turboprops (EMB-110 and EMB-120), airliners (E-Jets) and executive jets (Phenom 100 and Legacy 600). Embraer’s portfolio of executive jets is composed of the entry level Phenom 100, light Phenom 300, super midsize Legacy 600, large Legacy 650, ultra-large Lineage 1000, as well as the midlight Legacy 450 and midsize Legacy 500, which are under development. These aircraft offer cabin sizes and flexible ranges that are well-suited to diverse demands, including private and corporate use, shuttle operations, or MEDEVAC missions.

Additionally, in order to cater to the needs of Embraer Executive Jets operators in the region, the Company appointed Australia’s ExecuJet, in January 2010, as an Embraer Authorized Service Center (EASC) to provide maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), as well as warranty, line and heavy maintenance services to Embraer Phenom 100, Phenom 300, Legacy 600 and Legacy 650 operators in the country. Also in 2010, Embraer invested in a full inventory of spare parts for its executive jets at the Regional Distribution Center in Singapore, for greater proximity and quicker turnaround times for replacement parts to customers in Asia Pacific. EASCs in India, Singapore, Indonesia, China, and Australia offer complete coverage for the expanded regional area. This coverage is complemented by a 24-hour Customer Contact Center at the Company’s headquarters in São José dos Campos, Brazil, which provides 24/7 assistance to all Embraer Executive Jets customers worldwide.

China leads business aviation growth

Asia is the most dynamic and fastest growing region in the world and one of the fastest developing markets for business aviation.  With a huge appetite for new aircraft, now entering the region at a rapid rate, Reed Exhibitions, the organizer of Asian Aerospace Expo and Congress is delighted to be repeating its popular Asian Business Aviation event in Hong Kong during March 9-10, 2011.  Asian Business Aviation – an integral part of Asian Aerospace, will also include a stronger than ever static display and indoor exhibition.

The two-day conference, “Business aircraft in Asia – a buyer’s guide” sponsored by Jet Support Services, Inc (JSSI), will feature some of the aerospace industry’s top global and regional experts, including executives from Airbus, Bombardier, Cessna, Dassault Falcon Jet, Embraer, Gulfstream, Hawker Beechcraft Corp, JSSI, Merrill Lynch, TAG Asia, Jet Aviation, Hawker Pacific, The ASA Group, Signature Flight Support and Flight Safety International, plus GAMA Vice President Ed Smith.

They will discuss the key issues concerning winning and operating a business aircraft in the region, plus give an update on how rules are beginning to relax in China.

The first day’s programme will start with a discussion on leasing, financing and protecting the value of an asset.  Different options for aircraft purchase will be examined including fractional and pre-owned alternatives, with a discussion on insurance requirements. The morning session will debate regional infrastructure issues, including where to go for MRO, FBO’s, hangarage and airport options. Afternoon sessions will include discussions on regulatory issues for operators, including airspace access and fees.  The day will conclude with a review of business aviation development in the region from an OEM’s perspective.

Day two of the programme will begin with an opening speech from a representative from the Hong Kong Business Aviation Centre.  Morning discussions will examine staffing issues such as accessing qualified talent, training and licensing.  Best practices in maintenance and parts distribution will be addressed next, followed by how to fulfil client expectations from an aircraft management perspective.  Afternoon sessions will cover safety and security considerations followed by the closing session on the role of member organisations in promoting business aviation in the region.

Moderated by Chuck Woods, Chairman of Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA) and President, JSSI Asia-Pacific and Jason Liao, CEO of China Business Aviation Group, the panel of experts will include the following:

Corporate fiscal responsibility with Jet Card Membership Program

BOCA RATON, Fla./EWORLDWIRE --- Corporate business travelers are finding the extensive availability of private jet charter transportation – 15,000 aircraft – and preferred rates with 1,500 partners available through Paramount Business Jets the most appropriate way to manage costs associated with on-demand charter flight needs.

While Paramount's offerings encompass a range of aircraft - from Hawker 400XPs to Gulfstream 550s and Boeing business jets, cost savings of between 20 percent and 40 percent below current market pricing are achieved through the company’s transparent business model.

Paramount's new Jet Card Membership Program presents four distinct levels of membership, each allowing for a fixed management fee of 10 to 15 percent. Paramount Jet Card members see exactly how much flights actually cost and any negotiated discounts. Because all broker discounts and negotiated discounts are passed through to members, Jet Card members more accurately understand the pricing differences between Paramount Business Jet's wholesale pricing and standard retail charter rates.

The Paramount Jet Card Membership Program includes an unexpected bonus: members are exempt from paying the industry required 7.5 percent Federal Excise Tax on commissions.

The Paramount Web site at ParamountBusinessJets.com presents a private jet database with the largest selection of private jet empty legs in the world. Current listings of hundreds of empty leg charters make it possible to achieve cost savings of up to 75 percent on empty scheduled charter flights.

"Because private jet charter brokers typically shield their markups in the total price, customers feel as though they are negotiating with brokers without ever knowing if they are receiving a fair price for their specific charter," stated Eric Ammon, senior vice president of sales and services of Paramount Business Jets. "Our transparent pricing Jet Card model eliminates the stigma of the used car salesman mentality and allows clients to be confident that they aren't paying more than necessary."

To learn more about the Paramount Business Jets' Jet Card membership program, contact Eric Ammon or Member Services at +1-877-727-2538.
